Common Questions Answered

We maintain a high standard of public trust and transparent operations. If you have other questions about our NZ Charity registration or sponsorships, feel free to contact us.

Anyone who has a passion for tennis, fits the event's rating criteria (if any), and agrees to respect our community code of conduct (fair play, mutual respect, and sportsmanship) is welcome to register! We are a highly inclusive and diverse Aotearoa network—regardless of your nationality, age, gender, or background, NZATA is your tennis home.
To guarantee a high-quality experience, most competitive tournaments are designated with specific skill categories using the international NTRP rating system. Each tournament detail page lists the targeted NTRP category (e.g., 'NTRP 2.5 - 4.0 Double Cup'). If you're unsure of your level, check our simple NTRP reference chart on the events page or email us for coach-backed self-rating guidance.
Rating guidelines are strictly designed for match flow, competitive balance, and court safety. Large level disparities increase the risk of net-play injuries (e.g., from hard baseline drives or overhead volleys) and degrade the recreational experience for players on both sides of the net. For NTRP 1.0 - 2.0 players, we organize regular free 'Beginner Clinics' with volunteer coaches and complimentary rackets.
Yes, NZATA is a registered amateur sports charity under NZ regulations. We maintain 100% financial transparency: 1. Ring-fenced funding: All nominal entry fees ($20-$30 NZD court booking fees), corporate funding, and community donations are stored in a dedicated NZ bank account and spent 100% on court hire, tennis balls, liability insurance, and amateur medals. 2. 100% Unpaid Volunteers: All NZATA coordinators, umpires, board members, and coaches are entirely unpaid volunteers. No individual receives a salary, commercial commission, or profit dividends. All surpluses are reinvested into local court maintenance and free community coaching.
